The idea for Seasonscape emerged from exploring the concept of time in traditional Chinese culture, translating the rhythmic flow of the 24 solar terms into immersive sound and visual experiences. Conceived by electronic music composer and producer Suting Han, with evocative visuals by artist Danni Zheng, the performance seamlessly blends flute, piano, percussion, string quartet, and electronic music, enhanced by real-time visuals that evolve organically, creating a constantly shifting and deeply immersive soundscape.

More than a performance, Seasonscape unfolds as a living artwork—an evolving tapestry of seasonal transformation where sight and sound converge. Real-time, interactive visuals respond organically to the music, inviting audiences into a space that breathes with the pulse of nature. At its core lies a spirit of improvisation: musicians, algorithms, and the dimension of time itself become collaborators, capturing the beauty and unpredictability of natural change. What makes Seasonscape truly captivating is not merely its structured vision, but the intentional space left open for the unexpected. The music, visuals, and even performers’ reactions are partly improvised, ensuring that each performance becomes a unique experiment—a fleeting creation that thrives exclusively in that moment. From the tender rains of Chunfen (Spring Equinox) to the crystalline frost of Bailu (White Dew), each solar term emerges as a distinct sonic language—a poetic conversation between cultural memory and the eternal cycles of the Earth.
